SAINT-GUILHEM LE DESERT
BETWEEN ROCKS AND SCRUBLAND

Saint-Guilhem the Desert is at 44km from Montpellier and 1.15 drive from Nîmes. Suspended in the time and over the valley of the Hérault in a landscape of a great beauty, this small village houses a beautiful jewel of the Romanesque art: the Abbey of Gellone world heritage of UNESCO world heritage and which is on the way of Santiago de Compostela.

Once there, we will take the "Path of Fenestrettes" on the way of Santiago de Compostela (about 10km, 3.30).
All along this path we can admire the wonderful landscapes and we will share together our meal (picnic) before joining the village.
Back to Saint-Guilhem le Désert, a visit to the museum of former days will not happen without emotion!
We will visit also the Abbey of Gellone, one of the most important spritual and cultural home in the Languedoc and a true architectural masterpiece of Romananesque art.

Before heading back, you can also enjoy strolling throught the streets of this medieval town where the voices of the past still resonate...
